Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lip Gloss: Buck Off or Buy

I recently purchased the new Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lip Gloss in the shade Natural. This retails for $9.99 at CVS but there are always coupons or sales if you’re patient.

There has been a trend lately of color changing products. While it is an entertaining idea it can be a little difficult not knowing exactly what color product you are buying. If you like to wear a variety of colors and shades and aren’t super picky then this product might be for you.

Let’s start by talking about the packaging. They knocked it out of the ballpark with this one! It is a simply rectangular tube with a twist off lip gloss top. On one side of the tube there is a mirror that you can apply the product. I will note if you keep this in your purse the mirror will get scratched and dirty pretty quickly. Now, the real kicker…they included a light inside the gloss. There is a button on top of the cap that turns the light on and off. You can apply this on the dark, on the go, really whenever and wherever!

The gloss has a very small brush applicator which allows for precision application. This is important as you’ll find out later.

Since this product reacts to each person’s pH level the shade is going to be different on each person. On me, the natural color turned into a pink shade. I’m really glad I didn’t purchase the pink because I don’t even want to think about how pink that would have turned out. It has the perfect consistency, thick enough that it lasts a long time on the lips but not so thick that it’s goopy.

Now to my second favorite part, the lasting power of this product! Once the gloss finally wears off, my lips are left with a perfect stain of color. This is why having the precision applicator is so important. I have found that a lot of products that do this the stain clings to the cracks in my lips and looks terrible. Not with this one! It’s the perfect natural flush of color.

The one con I have found is that once it wears off, I can’t apply it again. If I reapply the gloss the color becomes too bright of a pink and that’s not what I’m going for. Instead, I apply a clear gloss or balm on top and I’m good to go.

In conclusion this is definitely a BUY!
